Emma Bellairs

Registered Osteopath & Clinical Pilates

Hi I’m Emma…

I graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2007 and practice structural osteopathy as well as teaching clinical Pilates. I specialise in sport and exercise rehabilitation having gained a BSc (Hons) in Sport and Health Science from the University of Southampton prior to becoming an Osteopath, and more recently an MSc with Distinction in Sports Medicine, Exercise and Health from UCL.

It was through my Sports Science degree that I became interested in the biomechanics of injuries and how we can use specific exercises to retrain the body to move better and heal injuries which in turn can help us to be more efficient and achieve more in our chosen sports and activities.  It was through this interest that I discovered Pilates and the benefits the Pilates Method can have in treating injuries. I went on to qualify as a Pilates instructor in 2004 and now have over 20 years of experience in teaching both group classes and one to one rehabilitative Pilates in a clinical setting.

My continuing post graduate professional development has covered many areas of specialism including strength and conditioning, trigger point acupuncture, sports injury strapping, shockwave therapy, cranial and paediatric osteopathy and advanced osteopathic structural techniques. I am also a certified running technique coach.

Being active has always been a big part of my life. Competing as a figure skater and later snowboarding sparked my interest in osteopathy, as I experienced firsthand how effective it is at getting you back to full fitness. Today, I stay active through figure skating, swimming, cycling, and Pilates.

I am registered with most insurance providers, including AXA, Vitality, Aviva, Simply Health, and Cigna.

Stephen Baker

Registered Osteopath

Hi I’m Steve…

I graduated from the British College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. I am an experienced structural and cranial osteopath and I enjoy treating a wide range of conditions in people of all ages from new born babies, pregnant women, to Olympic athletes and older clients. I have worked full time in several clinics since graduating including one year at the Osteopathic Centre for Children previously in Harley Street, where I completed my paediatric osteopathy training. I came into osteopathy alongside a 20 year career as a kayaker having competed for Great Britain in many world championships, and through my in depth understanding of the sport I also served as osteopath to the GB Olympic Kayak Team for several years and am still heavily involved in the sport.

My continuing post graduate professional development has covered many areas of specialism including trigger point acupuncture, cranial and paediatric osteopathy, and advanced osteopathic structural techniques.

I truly believe keeping active is the key to staying well and as such I’m never too far away from some sporting challenge in  running, cycling, swimming, kayaking or pretty much anything else I can try.

Steve is registered with all major insurance companies including BUPA, AXA/PPP, Aviva, WPA, Vitality, Simply Health and Cigna.

Gareth Degg

Registered Osteopath

Hi I’m Gareth…

I achieved a Masters in Osteopathy from the British School of Osteopathy in 2013 after spending the previous 8 years working as a personal trainer. I followed this by undertaking the world-renowned Applied Functional Science (AFS) mentorship program (GIFT) at the Gray Institute in Michigan, USA. This course not only widened my understanding of how the body functions and moves in the “real world” but I feel it is a fantastic compliment to both my osteopathic skills and osteopathic thinking.

Throughout my career to date I have had a heavy involvement in both amateur and professional sport, which has centred mainly around Athletics but has also included individual work with professional Football, Rugby and Basketball.  My professional highlights include being Team Osteopath at the following events:

  • 2015 IAAF World Youth Athletics Championships  – Cali, Colombia
  • 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships  – Grosseto, Italy
  • 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships – Gavle, Sweden

I spent 7 years as a “Trackside Therapist” within Athletics groups where I was present at training sessions, training camps and at competitions to help maximise athletic performance as best possible. During this time I not only got to travel to many parts of the world and cover many IAAF Diamond League meets but I also developed a key understanding around running and sports injuries with ways to both manage and resolve them.

I also come from a strong sporty background myself, having played basketball throughout my youth up until my late 20’s, and I still try to stay fit and healthy in my everyday life. My passion for health and fitness is what led me on the path to Osteopathy.

In general practice I have experience of treating patients from a range of ages and complaints, from the young to the not-so young and from the highly active to the office worker and all in-between. I feel my strengths lie in my ability to look at a problem from a global perspective and seek the root cause and not rushing to make a hasty diagnosis.”

Emma McMilan

Physiotherapist

Hi everyone! My name is Emma.

I’m a Chartered Physiotherapist from Scotland, graduating with a First Class BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2020. I’ve been working for six years, with a specialist focus on paediatric physiotherapy — supporting children and young people aged 0–20 across a wide range of needs, including complex neurodisabilities, post-operative rehabilitation, injuries and gait abnormalities.

Alongside my paediatric work, I also assess and treat adult patients with musculoskeletal conditions, bringing the same evidence-based, person-centred approach to every patient I work with. I currently work part-time in the NHS within a musculoskeletal service, where I support young people managing long-term pain and conditions such as postural concerns, reduced strength and function.

Since moving to London I have continued to develop my clinical skills and broaden my experience, and it’s here that my love for Pilates-based rehabilitation has really grown. I’m a qualified Mat Pilates instructor with additional training in working with individuals with osteoporosis and pre and post-natal women — allowing me to tailor movement safely and effectively across a wide range of populations.

Outside of clinical work, I’m passionate about both physical and mental health, with a strong focus on movement, strength training and the mind-body connection. You’ll often find me running, out on a long walk, or in a yoga or Pilates class myself.

Anne Strong

Physiotherapist

Hi I’m Anne

I am a Chartered Physiotherapist and I graduated from Brunel university in 1998 with a BSc in Physiotherapy. I specialise in complex musculoskeletal dysfunctions and the rehabilitation of both sporting/ functional injuries as well as post operative rehab. Prior to becoming a physio I graduated from Loughborough University with a degree in Sports Science and have worked previously within sports teams and as a personal trainer. I was first introduced to clinical Pilates over 20 years ago and completed my training in 2010. My post graduate Physiotherapy training has further developed my management of both chronic and acute injuries, using techniques such as kinesiology taping, acupuncture, joint mobilisations and deep tissue massage. It has also lead me to develop specialised interest areas including osteoporosis, the understanding of persistent pain, and the effects of the menopause My post graduate Pilates training has focused on specific areas including ante and postal natal, bone health/osteoporosis, sports rehab, and the menopause. I have taught group classes and one to one pilates for many years.

I have always enjoyed keeping fit and active and swim and cycle regularly.
